南韓頂級榮譽教授姜國熙（Kang, Kook-hee），首爾科技資訊學院RESEAT計劃負責人，在其學術論文〈對科學家的尿療法簡報〉（”Urine Therapy Briefing for Scientists”），論證尿療法並非迷信民間療法，而是有效的另類藥物，能醫百病，例如慢性疲勞、感冒、鼻敏敏、糖尿病、高血壓、痛風。 該文還概述尿療法的軍事應用： –
尿是國家軍隊的重要資源，有助緊急情況生存，例如被敵軍圍困，斷水斷糧。更甚者，是天災隔離，無人援助。南韓陸軍訓練總部前總司令柳中將明白，士兵遇到災難，倘用尿療，倖存的機會，大於對尿療法一無所知者。
據報導，美國陸軍規定士兵食再水乾糧時，須知尿是關鍵要素。二零零四年七月二十二日BBC新聞報導指出：「美國軍方設計了一種方法，確保其戰鬥中部隊永遠不需要挨餓：可用污水或尿再水化乾糧。」無水時，可用尿。 儘管報導最後提到「長期飲尿會傷腎。」但並無證據表明此陳述正確。 其實，長期飲尿不會造成任何損害，反而有助細胞組織改革。」（Kang，1998）
